SRH Probable Retention List Before IPL 2026 Mini Auction: Pat Cummins, Travis Head, and Abhishek Sharma Likely to Stay
Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) are likely to retain Pat Cummins, Travis Head, and Abhishek Sharma while releasing Heinrich Klaasen ahead of the IPL 2026 mini auction to rebuild a balanced squad.
Pat Cummins and Travis Head are expected to lead SRH’s core heading into the IPL 2026 mini auction.

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) are reportedly gearing up for the IPL 2026 mini auction with a clear strategy — retain their strong core while freeing up funds to strengthen weaker areas of the squad. As per reports, SRH are likely to retain captain Pat Cummins, along with Travis Head and young all-rounder Abhishek Sharma, who have been central to the team’s setup.
However, the franchise is expected to release Heinrich Klaasen, their costliest retention at ₹23 crore, despite his consistent performances since 2023. This move is seen as part of SRH’s plan to expand their auction purse and rebuild a more balanced side, with a focus on enhancing their middle-order batting and pace attack.
Possible Retentions and Releases
While Cummins, Head, and Abhishek Sharma are likely to be retained, several underperforming domestic and overseas players could be released to maintain financial flexibility. Reports also suggest SRH might attempt to buy back Klaasen at a lower price if the auction dynamics allow.
SRH’s Strategy for IPL 2026
After finishing sixth in IPL 2025, SRH’s management seems to be prioritizing team balance over star power. With the IPL 2026 mini auction scheduled for mid-December 2025, the franchise’s primary focus will be to assemble a versatile and competitive squad capable of mounting a stronger title challenge next season.
